In the early 1900´s Le Corbusier believed that architects should look to ship engineering and structure as the inspiration for radically functionalist architecture. He said, liners are “a liberation from the cursed enslavement of the past.” A new style was borned: the Ship Style. In Lima, as in other important cities, “Ship Style” houses started to pop up.
Unluckily for architecture and design lovers like us, these pieces of history are disappearing with the pass of time. Lucky us, we found, renovated and converted one of the few remaining pieces of Miraflores´ architecture dating back to early 1900´s. Please come and enjoy our home, the only Ship Style House converted into a Hotel in Lima. BELMA HOTEL: A Ship House by the Ocean.
